Having a parent or close loved one (in your case, Gram) with dementia or some sort of cognitive impairment will teach you patience. I have a close relative with dementia and being around him teaches me a lot - it reveals how impatient and selfish I can be.

The most successful people both spiritually and earthly seem to be those who take a leap of faith. They make themselves go out of their comfort zone. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. Good for you for taking a leap of faith, but GREAT for you for being excited about it!

The world needs more Bobs. We have a similar man in our community who loves kids. My children are always so excited when they get see him. With people like Bob, you can just tell that they're being genuine. They don't have to TRY to get along with everyone, it just happens naturally. I'm truly sorry for your loss, I'm sure Bob will be missed.

My mother has recently been suffering from dementia. It's a very tough struggle and hard to cope with at times. It's great that you're cherishing the positive moments that you are having with her and staying positive about it. That's what I'm attempting to do right now, but it's very hard. Good luck!

What a great experience. Baptisms are always such an exciting time because we get to celebrate the life of someone here at the same time of celebrating God. I find it so great that you felt an individual responsibility for this child. Good for you!
